An engineering firm has invested almost £500,000 on its manufacturing base in Cheltenham.

Delapena Honing Equipment manufactures a range of honing machines which are used for the precision finishing of bores (holes) in engineering products.These are used in a variety of industries including aerospace, defence, automotive, medical and the marine sector.

Delapena Honing Equipment has recently completed the development of its new applications and demonstration area within its Cheltenham manufacturing site. The new facility will be a major advantage for customers who can now see honing machines in action and, where required, use the area for the prove-out applications prior to the delivery of their machine.

When an increasing number of fine tolerance parts could no longer be honed by a single skilled operator Pollard Engineering decided to automate using three E1000S machines from Delapena. Machinery reports.

Delapena Honing Equipment has seen a resurgence in its business, since the company passed into private ownership in 2006. Established in 1927, the company has it's headquarters and factory in Cheltenham and is run by owner and managing director David Arthur (pictured).
